Temporary changes to BSMHFT Library Services from Monday, 16 March 2020

From Monday, 16th March 2020, Uffculme Library will be temporarily closed and we will instead be providing Library and Knowledge Services to the fullest extent possible from Barberry Library only. Alternative hot-desk facilities are available at Juniper and Barberry sites.

We will continue to offer remote services such as enquiries, e-book loans, article requests, access to online resources and a literature search service however these may be at a reduced level.

To ensure continuity of service, we will also be offering a remote enquiry service for issuing books and registering enquiries should library staff be unavailable and for out of hours use.

The library catalogue is available 24/7 and you can continue to reserve items online however there may be some delay before an item is available for collection as other libraries within the BASE consortium may need to suspend this service in the coming weeks.

We already offer a postal loan service to our registered users so, to save your travel, please consider updating your account with library staff and we will post books direct to your work place instead.

Changes to BASE Library terms and conditions of service

  • Any library item currently on loan has automatically been extended until 30 April 2020.
    You can still return items as normal via counter services, internal post or the book return boxes located outside each library or, alternatively, you are welcome to hold onto the items, which will continue to be automatically renewed, until we notify you that they should be returned.
  • Any overdue fines which have been incurred since 16 March will be cleared and fines will be suspended for all items until further notice. If you were unable to renew or return items before 16 March owing to ill health or disruption caused by the coronavirus, please contact us and we will amend your account accordingly.
  • Notifications have been temporarily suspended until further notice which means that you will not receive reminders or overdue notices. We will contact you again to give you notice when this is due to be reinstated.

You can contact us via email: bsmhft.barberrylibrary@nhs.net or telephone 0121 301 2059, Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm;

Voicemails or emails received outside these times will be responded to the next working day.
